On November 22, 2009, Firefighter Terrance Freeman of the Rockford Fire Department suffered a fatal heart attack in the line of duty.
Freeman worked a 24-hour shift that ended at 8AM on November 22, and four hours later he collapsed from a fatal heart attack while visiting family in Westmont.
Funeral services for Freeman were held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on November 28, and more than 100 firefighters from twenty departments attended the services. Freeman was survived by his widow, six children, and his parents and siblings.
