On February 14, 1946, Chicago Fire Department Captain Conrad Wynne of Inhalator Squad 10 suffered a fatal heart attack while fighting a house fire on Arlington Place. Wynne’s squad attempted to resuscitate him for more than thirty minutes, but they were unable to revive him. Wynne had been a member of the fire department for twenty-three years, and he was survived by his widow and seven children.
